Cruz “Chiquilate” “Mr. Laredo” Garcia, age 84 of East Chicago, IN passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ofelia Garcia; 7 children: Gilbert (Eva) Garcia, Ricardo Garcia, George Garcia, Elsa (Miguel) Paz, Hector Garcia, Leticia V. Garcia and Jose Garcia; 13 grandchildren: Valerie and Adrienne Garcia, Ricardo, Jr. (Andrea) and Celeste Garcia, Jared Garcia, Ofelia (Ditric Cannon), Jeanette and Raul Frechette, Diana D. Silva and Maximus Adam Silva, Maria Autumn Garcia, Angelina Skyelar and Jacob Garcia; 9 great grandchildren: Alize (Christian) Frechette-Olivarria, Alizah (Hoshea) Washington, Aurielle, Azaleah, Ofelia, Abigail, Jalon James Frechette, Maya and Noah Garcia; 2 great great grandchildren, Caliel Z. Frechette-Olavarria and JehoshuaZion Washington and; brother, Ricardo Juan Garcia. Preceded in death by his sister, Ninfa Garcia; brother, Pedro Garcia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1:30 pm at St. Patrick’s Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. David G. Nowak officiating. Private cremation to follow. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 11:00 to 1:00 pm on Wednesday morning.
