Dennis John Stevens,of East Chicago, IN,  beloved husband, caring devoted father, passed away suddenly October 13, 2016. Will be remembered as a person who always was there to lend a helping hand, thought of others first, had an open door and unconditional love.  This reflected in his devotion and dedication to his family and neighbors.  He was born in Gary and lived in the Tolleston area growing up.  Dennis was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam war and served time in Japan.  He retired from Inland Steel after 30 years of service as a crane operator.  He enjoyed the four seasons and lived life with zest.  Dennis enjoyed decorating for the holidays with his daughter, Victoria; especially creating their winter wonderland for Christmas.  He loved yard work, music of all types, and had quite a collection.  He referred to his wife as “the love of my life,” he felt she brought the best out in him and gave him the life he always dreamed of; filled with witty conversations, loving family and deep friendships. 

In addition to his wife, Karen (Demkowicz) he is survived by his daughters:  his babydoll, Victoria Simone, Nathalie (Michael); sons: Joseph (Lori) and Randy (Irene); son-in-law, David Kubiszewski, Sr.; sister-in-law, Micaela Demkowicz; grandchildren: Karissa, David, Jr., Natasha, Zion, Guy, Jordon, Randy, Jr., Joseph, Sean, Lisa, Michael, and Kayla; great-grandchildren:  Zofia, Randy III, and Yesenia; blessed with a dear friend, Garrick Coles.  Preceded in death by parents:  Lillian (Krakowiak) and Walter Stevens; sister-in-law, Patsy Demkowicz; daughter, Vanessa Kubiszewski; and grandson, Brandon Jones.  Each and every one had a special place in his heart and was included in his generosity and love.  We lit up each other’s lives; thanks for the memories.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Msgr. Joseph Semancik officiating.  Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends may meet with the family from 10:00 am until the time of the services at 12:00 noon at the funeral home on Wednesday.  For further information and condolences please call the family at 219-427-3141.
