Dorothy Jean Cook, age 78 of Hammond, IN formerly of Marktown in East Chicago, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness on Monday, June 20, 2016.  She is survived 3 children: Elizabeth Cook of Madison, WI, Debora (Bruce) Revor of Valparaiso, IN and Henry (Gladys) Cook of Highland, IN;  6 grandchildren: Evan and Lauren SeBlonka, Hannah and Michael Revor, Nina and Ava Cook;  brother, Mike Michel; sister, Linda Michel.  Preceded in death by mother, Betty Michels; father, William Petersen; brothers, David and William Petersen.

Jean retired from Sterk’s Grocery Store in East Chicago, IN.  She loved reading romance and mystery novels.  Her grandchildren were everything to her and she never forgot anyone’s special occasions.  Jean lived with a strong belief in the Lord and she is now at peace with him.
