Josephine C. Bautista, age 88, of East Chicago, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017.  Josephine is survived by daughters:  Thelma (Richard) Leal and Elsa (Jaime) Del Real; sons:  Daniel Bautista and Jesse (Tere) Bautista; daughter-in-law, Karen Bautista; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by husband, Jose Sr.; and children:  Jose Bautista Jr., Maria Arreola, and Guadalupe Bautista-Contreras.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 beginning at 10:30 a.m. from FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church 802 W. 144th Street, East Chicago with Rev. Frank Torres officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation will be on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. and from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN.

Josephine was a volunteer at St. Catherine Hospital for many years; a pre-school and kindergarten teacher’s aide in Laredo, TX; a member of St. Mary Church; a kind-hearted, compassionate, strong beautiful women; a loving and giving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who went above and beyond for everyone; Josephine made a difference in many people’s lives and had a Heart of Gold; she enjoyed word search puzzles, music, ace-duece champ (backgammon), and family time; she will truly be missed. “Que Dios Té Bendiga +”  To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to: www.fifefuneralhome.com
