Martha E. Bach (nee Huke), age 77 of Hammond, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016.  She is survived by 4 daughters: Roberta Bach, Deborah (Thomas) Williamson, Suzan Bach and Sister Connie Bach, PHJC; 2 granddaughters, Kristin and Ashley Bach; brother, William (Dian) Huke of Scottsville, KY; sister, Kathleen (Ralph Thon) Ginn; several nieces, nephews and in-laws.  Preceded in death by husband, Robert C. Bach in 1992; parents, Robert and Vera (nee Kordick) Huke; step father, Charles Sautermeister; brothers, Robert and Carl Huke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. James the Less Church, 9640 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, IN with Bishop Emeritus Carl Mengeling officiating.  Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 2, 2016 and from 9:30 am until time of Mass at the Church on Monday morning. Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ will hold services 7:00 pm on Sunday.

Martha was a waitress for 46 years in East Chicago.  In her later years she cared for the elderly in their homes.  She was a Girl Scout leader and religious education teacher.  Martha was an avid golfer and bowler in numerous leagues.  She also was a member of the East Chicago Women’s Emblem Club.  Martha enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch, quilting, cooking, baking and visiting with her friends and loved ones.  One of Martha’s greatest joys was spending time with her dogs.  Please Omit Flowers.  To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
