con.... I last saw her a week before her passing. Even though she was in some distress, she welcomed the visit. I helped brush her hair(her request to look nice). We watched a Cubs game on t.v. and ate candy. Ill cherish that visit and a lifetime of loving memories. She was a beautiful butterfly!

My condolences to Dan, Barbara, Audrey, and their families, and all who knew and loved her. Aunt Mary Ellen was a remarkable woman. She was smart,strong-willed, and loving. She accomplished two careers. She faced adversities with an inner strength that was inspiring. Living as a stroke survivor for decades, she strove to do daily activities that people with lesser handicaps could not or would not do. She continued to communicate through voice inflections, body language, and occasional written small words. I remember her as a warm caring aunt. Back in the days when families gathered for all occasions, she was always there. Whether hosting the events or going to others' homes, she welcomed family . She was one of the "fun aunts": laughing and taking time to play with the kids. She always could make a child smile. As years went by and families moved away her door remained open. It didn't matter how infrequently you visited, she always welcomed you.

Mary Ellen was my manager at Hammond office in the 90's. She was the best..we became friends too. I was able to visit her when I was in NWIndiana & it was great to see her. She loved her family so much and was so proud of you too. I'll always remember her, especially when I see a butterfly. Love and condolences to the family.

Prayers and condolences to Dan and his entire family. Although it has been a long time since I have seen Aunt Mary Ellen I remember going to her house and there always be goodies for us. I remember the monkey that banged the symbols together. She had a great sense of humor like much of our family. She will be missed by all.
