Olivia Puente (nee Saldaña), age 78 of East Chicago, IN passed away Friday, June 17, 2016.  She is survived by 4 children: Jesse P. Puente, Anthony (former wife, Lilia) Puente, Michael (Gricela) Puente and Elizabeth (Daniel) Cortez; 8 grandchildren: Adriana, Marisol (Ryan) McMenamy, Anthony II (Alexandra), Martin, Christina, Stephanie, Matthew and Jessica; 5 great grandchildren: Bethany, Isabella, Ethan, Antonio and Augustus; 3 nieces: Lisa Saldaña, Sarah Gaglione and Lorraine (Angel) Torres all of Florida; dear friend, Gloria Becerra.  Preceded in death by parents, Guadalupe and Socorro Saldaña; husband, Jesus S. Puente and brother, Raul (Marylou) Saldaña.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Carlos Martinez officiating.  Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 and from 9:30 am until time of Mass at the Church on Wednesday morning.

Olivia was a lifelong resident of East Chicago and Bishop Noll Institute graduate.  She retired from the School City of East Chicago.  Olivia was an avid Chicago Sports fan (especially Chicago White Sox, Bears and Notre Dame).  Olivia’s family would like to give special thanks the staff at the Munster Med Inn and Davita Dialysis in Hammond.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be dearly missed.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Opportunity Enterprises for Disabled Adults, 2801 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN  46383 would be appreciated.  To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
