Raymond J. Galvan, age 85 of East Chicago, IN passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Estella Galvan (nee Verduzco); 9 children: Johnny Galvan; Sandra (Felix) Galvan-Escamilla and their children, Sonia, Felix “Gordy”, late Ricardo, Armando and David; Linda (late John) Galvan-Castel and her children, Carlos, Thomas, Fabian, Yvette and Jeremiah; late Jerry Galvan and his children, Renee, Melonie and Amber; Cynthia Melton and her children, Antoinette, Felicia and Roberta; Raymond V. Galvan and his children, Raymond, Jillian and Christina; Sonia (Charlie) Arrevalo and her children, Korina and Angel; Michael Galvan and his children, Bernadette, Amanda, Priscilla and Michael and Gavino Galvan; and 53 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren; siblings:  Guadalupe (Irene) Galvan, Mary (late Robert) Martinez, Carlos (Patricia) Galvan, George (Gloria) Galvan; preceded in death by parents, Guadalupe and Concepcion Galvan; and siblings:  Gavino Galvan, Eva Sanchez, Rudy Galvan, and Albert Galvan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar St., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Terry Steffens officiating. Interment to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN and again at Church on Friday from 9:30 am until time of the Mass at 10:00 am.

Ray retired from Inland Steel Company in the galvanizing department after 45 years of service; member of the Inland 25 year club; member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church; Ray was a sportsman by heart, who loved fishing and hunting with his sons and cousins; he also enjoyed boating, bowling and softball; Ray spent his leisure time taking photographs at family events and holidays.  He was a loving Son, Dad and Brother; working many hard days, which was greatly appreciated by his family.  Memorial donations requested to the family.  To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to: www.fifefuneralhome.com
