Adeline J. Mika (nee Drozd) was born in East Chicago, IN on October 19, 1931 to Catherine and Jan “John” Drozd.  She grew up with her sisters and brothers, late Sr. Agnesine “Sophia”, late Mary, late Walter, Frank, late Chester, late Stephanie, and Robert.  She attended St. Stanislaus School and Church.  She graduated from Bishop Noll High School in 1949.  Lying about her age, she worked at the age of 13 for Hook’s Drugstore and Sam Sing Laundry.  She met a former U.S. Army M.P., Daniel, on a double date.  She married Daniel at age 19 (he was 21).  They made a home in East Chicago, IN, where she became a lifelong resident.  They had 3 children, Linda (late Carol Edwards), Cathy (Tom) Michniewicz and Daniel (Nikki Ramos) Mika.  They lived, worked and loved until Daniel’s death in 2007, having been married for 55 years.  During that time, Adeline worked as St. Stan’s School librarian for over 20 years.  She bowled on leagues with friends. She became a Cub Scout leader, Rosary Sodality member, an avid painter of plaster artwork.  She was interested in the science of the body and mind.  She loved puzzles, animals, music and game shows.  Adeline has 3 grandchildren, Ryan (Michelle), Tommy (Lisa) and Madison.  She has 6 great grandchildren, Caitlin, Conner, Noah, Daniel, Odin and late Juno.  She has 1 great great granddaughter, Adalyn, who was named after her.  She has many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.  She especially loved playing games with her youngest grandchild, Madison.  Adeline entered into God’s loving embrace on May 4, 2017.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 9:15 am at the Fife Funeral Home, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN and 10:00 am Mass at St. Stanislaus Church, East Chicago, IN with Msgr. John Siekierski officiating.  Private Cremation to follow.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, May 8, 2017.  Rosary 4:00 pm on Monday.  Memorial donations will be given to Adeline’s many favorite charities.  To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
