Clarence Junior Starkey, age 82, a lifelong resident of Hammond, IN, born  April 25, 1935 and passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 with his loving family by his side.  Leaving to mourn are his loving wife, Patricia (nee Kruger) Starkey;  sister, Betty; 5 children: Denise (Frank) Johnson, David, Kenneth, Nancy (Rodney) Hutsenpiller and Steven; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Clarence's brothers:  Dale (Virginia), Delbert W., Robert (Doris), Delbert (Donna), Roland (Ann), Richard, and Donald (Jane); and sisters:  Delores, Donna Lou (Aubrey). Betty (Bill), Norma, Beverly, and Dorothy.

Visitation at  FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 7, 2017.  Pastor Dennis Starkey will hold services 7:00 pm on Monday at the Funeral Home.

Clarence retired in 1999 after working 45 years as a materials handler building at Union Tank Car Company in East Chicago, IN.  He was a lifelong sports fan; having managed or coached, with his brother Don, his kids and grand-kids softball and baseball teams for over 40 years.  They were the 1986 Indiana State girls softball champions.  He was also a big football and baseball fan.  His #1 team though was his family.  His eyes would light up when he saw his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.  Clarence was a sweet and kind man that everyone loved.  He was also a cancer survivor.To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
