Fred J. Kowalik, age 83, of Griffith, IN passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017.  Fred is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Regina Dawn (nee Mirenich) Kowalik; 3 daughters:  Kelly Rose (Donald) Morton, Dawn Marie (David) Dal Santo, and Nikki Ann (John) Stewart; 8 grandchildren:  Taylor (Matthew) Freebersyser, Leah (Curtis) Rex, Evan Morton, Blair Morton, Matthew (Jennifer) Dal Santo, Mia Dal Santo, Jacob Stewart, and Alyssa Stewart; 4 great-grandchildren:  Ruby Dal Santo, Chyna Rex, Mason Rex, and Reagan Rex, sister-in-law:  Nikki (late Fred) Miklusak; and several beloved nieces and nephews, .  Preceded in death by parents, John and Rose Kowalik; and brother, Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16, 2017, beginning at 1:00 pm at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating.  Friends and relatives are invited to meet with the family on Saturday at the Church from 11:30 am until the time of the Mass at 1:00 pm.

Fred was a 1953 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School; retired Pipefitter from Youngstown Sheet & Tube and Columbia Pipe; a member of United Steel Workers of America Union Local #1011; a U.S. Army Veteran; member of Mended Hearts of Community Hospital; and an avid White Sox fan.
