SGT. Jeffrey R. Sanchez, ECPD Retired, age 54, of East Chicago, IN passed away December 21, 2017.  Jeffrey is survived by his daughter, Alena (Joseph) Marquez; father, Raymond J. (Debbie) Sanchez, Sr.; two brothers:  Gregory J. (Joni) Sanchez and Raymond J. Sanchez, Jr.; nieces:  Amy Sanchez and Marissa Ford; nephews:  J.R. (Debbie) Ford, John G. “Jack” (Jenny) Sanchez, and great-nieces who he adored:  Julianne and Jackie Sanchez.  Preceded death by mother, Marjorie Sanchez.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 beginning at 9:30 am at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church, 150th St. at Magoun Ave., East Chicago, with Msgr. John J. Siekierski officiating.  Entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME.  Msgr. Siekierski will have a prayer service at 4:00 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Jeffrey graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Criminal Justice; he turned down a position with the U.S. Marshal Service to return to his beloved East Chicago to join the “family business” – law enforcement.  A life-long resident of East Chicago, member of St. Stanislaus Church, member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #59, a United States Marine Corp Veteran; and an avid White Sox fan.  To share a memory or send a permanent online condolence, logon to: www.fifefuneralhome.com
