Malik Areyon Barnes, age 3 months, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at home. Malik is survived by his mother and father: Briana Cathey and Malcolm Barnes; 3 brothers: Breyon Cathey, Malcolm Barnes Jr, and Keenan Hunter; 1 sister, Brooklyn Cathey; maternal grandparents: Taketa and Thomas Pates; paternal grandparents: Denise Barnes and Tyrone Benson; great-grandmother, Ivy Jones; 5 aunties: Cheyenne Cathey,  Kennice (Brandon) Jamison, Special Pates, Kierra Pates, Kianna Pates; 2 uncle's: Thomas Pates Jr. and Jamar Rodgers; 3 great uncles; 8 great aunties; great-great aunties, Jannette Briggs (John Neal), and Rholonda (Julio) Cortes. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN.  Repast immediately following the visitation will be at the home of Malik's grandmother, Taketa Pates, 7326 Alexander Avenue, Hammond, Indiana.
