Maria Luisa “Moisy” Aburto (nee Aparicio), age 87 of Highland, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018. She is survived by 5 children: Antonio A. (Scott P. Heuring) Aburto-Aparicio, Daisy (Ricardo) Aburto-Martinez, Carlos (Kathy) Aburto, Alicia (Javier) Aburto-Ruiz and Salli Aburto-Ortega; 14 grandchildren: Erika (Kiel) Sopko, Jeanette (Adam) Machara, Crystal (Brandon) Reichert and Crystina (Michael) Ridenour, Carlos (Danielle) Aburto, William Aburto, Marina (Adam) Mikolajczyk and Myles Urbano Aburto, Aliciavidal (Jose) Rios, Domingo Ruiz and Javieradrian Ruiz, Marco, Octavio and Rodolfo Ortega; 13 great grandchildren: Katlin, Karolina, Colin, Sofiavidal, Brent, James, Viviana, William, Clark, Fiona, Noah, Eleanna and Graham; brothers: Isaias (Ofelia) Aparicio, Jorge (Eugenia) Aparicio, Mario Aparicio, Sergio (Esperanza) Aparicio, Octavio (Guadalupe) Aparicio, Rodolfo (Josefina) Aparicio and Armando (Guadalupe) Aparicio; sisters: Josefina (late Abel) Zavala, Luz (Melchor) Miranda and Maria (late Antonio) Madrigal; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Natividad and Esperanza Aparicio; husband, Urbano Aburto in 2015.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Eduardo Mallagon officiating. Entombment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends may meet with the family from 10:00 am until time of Mass at the Church on Monday morning.
Maria Luisa’s deep faith was rooted as a lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, a proud member of the Guadalupanas Society, a devoted member of the Legion de Maria as well as a Cursillista. She was a devoted homemaker and she will long be remembered for her passion of gardening. Maria Luisa is now reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years, Urbano.
