Nieves Minjarez, age 70, of East Chicago, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 with her loving family by her side.  Nieves is survived by her 5 children:  Inez (Angelica) Medrano, Modesta (Aurelio) Terrazas, Maria (Sergio) Zavala, Jose (Veronica) Medrano, and Lourdes (Pascual) Medrano; 4 step-children:  Rafael Medrano, Filiberto Medrano, Manuela Medrano and Petra Medrano; brother, Alberto (Frances) Minjarez; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceded in death by husband, Francisco Medrano; mother, Luisa Ocon; father, Alberto Minjarez; and brother, Manuel Aldaco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017 beginning at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Patrick Gaza officiating.  Burial at a later date at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN and on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass at Church.

Nieves was kind to anyone and everyone she met; her heart was made of gold and she left everyone that loved her a piece of it.  Nieves will forever be in our hearts.  We love you.
