Alexander Corpus

November 17, 1949 – September 3, 2024

Alexander Corpus, 74 of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away after a long illness on September 3, 2024.  He is survived by his siblings Myra (Brian Velazquez) Corpus, Armando (Francisco Silvares Vega) Corpus and Albert (Lori Noto) Corpus, beloved niece Sara Corpus and nephew Zachary Igartua; grandniece Stella Mora Igartua.  Alex is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Rosemary (nee Galvan) Corpus and siblings, Laura Angele, Abraham Jr., Allen George, and Arnold. 

Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024 and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Monday, September 9, 2024.  Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN.

Alex was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School and attended Art and Design school in Chicago.  Alex was a long-time employee of the Atlantic Richfield and ECI refineries.  He was also for many years a long-time tennis coach and mentor for young people with the city of East Chicago and Central High School.  He was a lover of car racing, rock music, a great apple pie, electronics, tennis, design and Pepsi Zero.  Alex was a kind, responsible, funny and easy-going man.  He devoted much of his later years to helping his family through their medical challenges and transitions.  Alex always did his best to make sure those close to him were well taken care of.  He was a loyal and supportive friend, brother and son.  Alex battled his own illness these past months with tremendous courage and strength.  We will forever be extremely proud of our brother.
