Alice Louise (Lopez) Castañeda

Alice Louise Castañeda better known as “Lulu”, age 86 of East Chicago, IN passed away Friday, December 5, 2025 at home surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Louise Castañeda; sons: Jonathan Castañeda and Reymundo Cervantes; parents, Ancencion Lopez and Jovita Lopez; brothers: Pablo Lopez, Henry (Emma) Lopez, Adolph (Maria) Lopez, Monico Lopez, Ezekiel (Cecelia) Lopez, Phillip (Helen) Lopez, Victor Lopez, and Ruben (Lynn) Mayen; sisters: Mary (Santos) Ramirez, Isabel (John) Armenta, Margaret (William) Roque, and Connie (Guadalupe) Alamillo.  She is survived by her sons: Raymond Castañeda, Gregory Castañeda, Senovio Castañeda Jr., Daniel (Jennifer) Castañeda, and Steven (Christine) Castañeda; daughters: Patricia (Victor) Rocha and Ann Marie Gutierrez; sisters: Sandra "Frances" Lopez and Gloria Justiano; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Terry Steffens officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday morning.

Alice was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, mother in-law, sister and aunt who loved her family more than anything.  She sacrificed so much of her life in order to provide for the ones she loved.  Alice was the heart of our family, always there with open arms, a warm plate of food and an answer for all our worries.  She was our prayer warrior who taught us to have faith in the Lord.  She taught us never to give up on family, to be there and love one another.  She instilled so much love and wisdom in her family.  We will forever be thankful to have experienced a love so true and strong.  A mother and a grandmothers love knows no bounds.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
