Armando Gutierrez

Armando Gutierrez, age 64, of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2021.  Armando is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Catalina;  5 sons:  Pedro (Dawn) Sanchez, Gregorio (Erica) Sanchez, Luis Gutierrez, Daniel (fiancée, Stephanie) Gutierrez and Manuel Gutierrez; 2 daughters:  Claudia Gutierrez and Gloria Gutierrez; 5 grandchildren:  Samantha, Gloria and Cindy Mejia, Alexa Gutierrez, and Alexander Gutierrez; 2 brothers:  Jaime (Teresa) Magallanes and Ricardo (Janet) Magallanes; 4 sisters:  Lidia (late Antonio) Gutierrez Sanchez, Ildelisa (Antonio) Herrera, Yolanda Gutierrez and Guadalupe (Francisco) Hernandez; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents: Alfredo Gutierrez and Dolores Sandoval; daughter, Celia Gutierrez; and brother, Salvador Gutierrez.

Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the funeral home with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN.  There will be services at 6:00 pm on Thursday conducted by Bishop Jesus Brant.

Armando was born on March 11, 1957 to Alfredo Gutierrez and Dolores Sandoval in Jalisco, Mexico.  After growing up and moving around, he met the love of his life and married Catalina. They have celebrated 31 years of years of a blessed and happy marriage.  Armando was honored to serve as a Bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Blue Island ward for six years. Armando always took pride in his career wherever he worked.  He enjoyed taking road trips, spending time with family and friends and loving God.  If you knew Armando, he always had a smile on his face.  He was a very calm and gentle soul.  Armando Gutierrez was a very loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and neighbor.  He became friends with everyone he met and touched so many lives.  He will be missed by all.
