Carlos Garcia Obituary

Carlos Louis Garcia, age 70, was born to Carmelo and Carmen Elba Garcia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Elba, and is survived by his father, Carmelo Garcia. He is also survived by his siblings, Elizabeth “Lisy” Garza and Felix Garcia. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, Carlos lived a life centered on family, hard work, and deep personal commitment. He worked for LTV Steel for 20 years before entering early retirement due to hearing loss. His years of labor reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for those he loved.

Carlos shared 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ramona Garcia. Together, they built a loving home in East Chicago, Indiana, where they raised their four children: Carmelita “Lita” Hutton (Terrence Hutton), Carlos Louis Garcia Jr. (Maria Garcia), Marcy “Er” Ellis (Maurice Ellis), and Jason “Coco” Garcia (Shantea Garcia). Carlos took great pride in his role as a father and was actively involved in his children’s lives, providing support and unconditional love. He was known for the nicknames he gave to everyone in the family he built, including the "Cool Kats", a small but lasting mark of the relationships he cherished.

Carlos was also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and a loving great‑grandfather to five great‑grandchildren. Through his daughter Carmelita (Lita) Hutton, he is survived by grandchildren Brian “Pam Pam” Garza; Celina “Nena” Garza, mother of Anthony “Mengo” DeLeon; Alyssa “Molly” Garza, mother of Nevaeh “Lil Molly” Garza, and Alonzo “Marengo” Garza. Through his son Carlos Louis Garcia Jr. and daughter‑in‑law Maria Garcia, he is survived by grandchildren Louis “Muchacho” Garcia, father of Zion “Lil Muchacho” Garcia; Eduardo “Meymo” Garcia; Leticia “Baby” Garcia (Trae Banks), mother of Santana Banks and Bella “Lil Baby” Banks; and Elizabeth “Lil baby” Garcia. Through his daughter Marcy “Er” Ellis and son-in-law Maurice Ellis, he is survived by grandchildren Alexis “Kin-Kin” Lucio and Jazmine “Minnie” Ellis.

Carlos also had a well‑known love for Harley‑Davidson, which was reflected in his collection of Harley‑Davidson items and the decorations he proudly displayed throughout his home. These details were a simple but familiar part of who he was and brought him genuine enjoyment.

Carlos Louis Garcia will be remembered for his deep involvement in his family’s lives, his quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His legacy lives on through the generations he helped raise, the values he instilled, and the enduring bond of family he leaves behind.
