CECILIA ANNE “CECE” CRUZ (NEE ROSADO)

With great sorrow, the family of Cecilia Anne Cruz informs you of her passing on Aug. 10, 2026. She was 68 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Eliezer Cruz, and son, Alejandro Francisco Cruz. She is also survived by her brothers, Francisco (Alma), Jose Vicente (Trina), and Patrick (Angie); her sisters, Elsa Valdez and Delia Maria Gallegos; brother- and sister-in-law, Otenel and Sara Cruz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Margaret Rosado Sr.; mother-in-law, Susanna Cedeno; father-in-law, Alejandro Cruz; and brothers-in-law, Anthony Gallegos and Leon Valdez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Diego Florez officiating.  Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 17, 2026 and at the Church from 10:00 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday morning. “Miss Cece” was the owner of Broadway Food Shop for 48 years—one of the last true mom-and-pop stores in East Chicago. Everyone who walked into the store was treated like family. People came not only to shop but to share their life’s joys and sorrows. “Miss Cece” was always there to listen.

“Miss Cece” will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. To quote one customer, “We love our Miss Cece.”

The family thanks everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and expressions of sympathy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cece’s memory may be made to the family.
