Celeste Mercado

Celeste Mercado, age 71, of Lake Station, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022.  Celeste is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lewis; three children:  Theresa (Herman) Delgado, Ramon (Madeline) Mercado and Elizabeth (Simon) Rodriguez; grandchildren:  Nicolas, Christina, Edward, Catalina, Billy, Jeremiah, Ernesto, Isaiah, Elijah, Kasaundra, Lailani, Justine, Angelo, Angelina, Tive, Benecio, and Julianna; several great grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Sue) Kazmierski, numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Emily Kazmierski; step daughter, Jennifer Craft; and sister, Patricia Houston.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN.  Pastor Andrew Concepcion will have a prayer service at 6:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Private cremation will follow.

Celeste Mercado a beloved mother,  wife,  sister and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with the family,  listening to her music,  baking, arts and crafts, and especially crocheting. People who knew her knew she loved to have fun and enjoyed life to the fullest.  At Christmas time everyone knew they were getting a new pair of crocheted slippers and a tin of fresh baked cookies. If you were really  lucky you would get a handmade crocheted affgan.  She will be greatly missed by all.... Till we meet again.  Loving you always.
