Claudio A. Gonzalez, Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claudio A. Gonzalez Jr., 67, of East Chicago Indiana who left us peacefully in the morning of Friday, August Twenty-ninth. 

Claudio was born on July thirty-first 1958 in East Chicago, Indiana to Claudio A. Gonzalez Sr. And Maria Guadalupe  Gonzalez. He grew up in East Chicago, Indiana and attended Washington High School (Class of 1976).  He was an EMT, Paramedic and then joined the East Chicago Police Department where he served in the capacities of Patrol and Inspector until his retirement in 2017.

Beyond his accomplishments, Claudio will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and selflessness. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, anything Batman, and a good cookout. 

Claudio is survived by his son Adrian Gonzalez; Sisters, Yolanda Gonzalez and Ruth (Norm) Jacobs; Ex-wife, Sylvia Gonzalez; nieces: Crystal (Michael) Rivera, Samantha Jacobs, Emma Jacobs, and nephew Adam Aguirre, along with many other cherished family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Claudio A. Gonzalez Sr, and Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez, and his niece Christina Jacobs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Terry Steffens officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 9:00 am to 10:30 am on Friday morning.
