Clemencia Blanco (nee Montalvo), age 91 of East Chicago, IN, born in Uvalde, Texas passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jose J. Blanco; special nieces, Becky Sanchez and Lisa Minjarez; special nephew, Rolando Velasquez; in-laws: Mary (late Tito) Jimenez, Rose (late Felix) Vasquez, Frances (Alberto) Minjarez, Lupe Blanco, Armando (Carmen) Blanco, Robert (late Jean) Blanco, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, Jeusu and Isabel Montalvo; sister, Ellia Contreras; brothers: Ralph, Baltazar, Joaquin, Jesse and Oscar Montalvo; In-laws: Eleuterio and Hilaria Blanco, Ricardo “Richie” Blanco, Linda Adair-Blanco, David Blanco and Connie Urbina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church, corner of Indianapolis Blvd. and 144th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Terry Steffens officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 and from 9:00 am to 9:30 am Saturday morning.
Clemencia lived in Uvalde, Texas until the age of 15 when she and her family moved to East Chicago, where she remained all her life. She worked for 12 years at Humesberg Butler Companies and Butler Specialty Company in South Chicago, IL for 12 years. She was an avid seamstress, loved reading and loved cooking.
