Daniel "Beav's" Leyva

Daniel Leyva, age 44, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at home.  Daniel is survived by 2 daughters: and Emilia Alma Leyva and Valerie Alessandra Leyva; mother Alma Rose Wennerberg; grandmother, Aurelia "Carmen" Diaz; 2 brothers:  Jose (Melinda) Avelar and Rodolfo (Mary) Leyva, Jr.; uncles: Jose (Sandra) Diaz and Alberto Jose (Veronica) Diaz; aunts: Mary (late Raul) Velasquez, Delores Diaz, Patricia Diaz, and Gloria Diaz; nephews:  Giovanni Jeremiah Leyva, Tony Avelar and Timmy Avelar; cousins: Ruby Velazquez, Esmeralda Velazquez, Perla Velazquez, A.J. Diaz, Diana Diaz, Maricela Diaz, Mary-Jo Diaz, Sandy Diaz, Anthony Diaz and Grace Diaz; and several more cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo Leyva, Sr.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation will be on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the funeral home; and again on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of the services at 11:00 am.  Pastor Angel Ruiz will hold services at 12:00 noon on Monday at the funeral home.

Daniel worked as a truck driver for over 20 years; he loved spending time with his daughters; enjoyed fishing and all sports, especially local teams; he was a big practical joker and loved playing cards.  He was an expert food critic - testing all the local food establishments and posted his recommendations online. He enjoyed going to carnivals and the zoo, especially with his daughters.  Danny was very close to his mother and will always be Mama's Boy!
