Dawn Silvas
January 23, 1967 – August 26, 2025
Dawn Silvas, age 58, of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago. Dawn was a lifelong East Chicago resident who touched the lives of many with her kindness, humor, and strong spirit. She worked for over 20 years as a dedicated buffet server at Ameristar Casino, where she was known for not only her warm smile and work ethic but also for her ability to make others laugh. Dawn had a way of brightening any room. Dawn had a unique eye for beauty, she loved shopping, collecting special items, crocheting handmade pieces, and watching movies. Her creativity and attention to detail showed through in everything she did. One of her favorite quotes was: “What we think, We become,” a reflection of the thoughtful and introspective way she lived her life.
She is survived by her loving mother, Olga Silvas; her children, Nicholas Silvas, Alexandria Silvas, Christopher Silvas, Montana Silvas, and Dakota Silvas; and her beloved grandchildren, Baby Nick, Zelly, Laylay, Bella, and Penny. Dawn also leaves behind her siblings Diana, Jr, Michael, and Donna, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.
A memorial service will be held at Fife Funeral Home in East Chicago. Family and close friends are invited to attend and celebrate Dawn’s life, share memories, and support one another during this time of loss.
Dawn’s strength, love, and creativity will live on in all who knew her.
Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025.
