Ernestina (Martinez) Janott

Ernestina Janott (nee Martinez), age 81, of Whiting, Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Ernestina is survived by two children:  Americo (Laura) Montemayor and Janet (Eliseo) Gutierrez; five grandchildren: Brandon, Jeff and Selina Montemayor, Eliseo Gutierrez, Jr. and Miguel Gutierrez; two great grandchildren: Ethan and Erik, Jr.; four brothers: Ricardo Martinez, Ramiro Martinez, Jesse Martinez and Victor Martinez; two sisters: Guillermina Martinez and Rosa Martinez.  Preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Janott: parents: Victoriano and Maria (Del Refugio Estrada) de Martinez; siblings: Umberto Martinez, Roberto Martinez, Hector Martinez, and Carmen Martinez.

Ernestina was born in Laredo, Texas and worked in the Laredo Public School District for over 15 years; she then moved to South Chicago, then Northwest Indiana before settling in Whiting.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially taking them out to eat and travelling to Disney World.  She was a wonderful mother, taking such good care of her son and daughter.
