Fernando Buentello, Sr. age 75 of East Chicago, IN passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 peacefully at home in the prescence of his family. He was loved by all his family, friends, fellow veterans, and all who knew him.
Fernando was born in Laredo, TX. He retired from Inland Steel Company after 35 years of service. He was a Vietnam U.S. Marine Corp Veteran, POW survivor, warrior, and believer in Jesus Christ until the end. He was filled with God’s precious gift of his Holy Spirit.
Fernando loved his family and his children. He also loved guns, westerns, and Duck Dynasty. He loved to read his Bible for hours in the last few years of his life and drew close to God. He was also a master mechanic and always there to help, even if he didn’t know you. He was a very generous person. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Buentello; children: Abel (Yvonne) Sanchez, Anel (Bobby) Cox, Elizabeth (Frankie) Rivera, Veronica (Jesse) Ramirez, Fernando (Ruby) Buentello Jr., Mariano (Kristy) Garcia III, Claribel (Mike) Ryan, Victoriano (Jazmin) Gonzalez Jr.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
