Francisco C. Porras, age 84 of East Chicago, IN passed away Monday, November 10, 2025 at home. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucina (Barajas) Porras; his children Francisco (Amparo) Porras, Maria Elena (Enrique) Vargas, Yolanda Madrigal, and Pedro (Eva C) Porras; his grandchildren Alicia (Matt), Francisco (Brooke), Marisa, Jaime, Josalyn, Gabriel, Adan, Mateo; great-grand children Mason, Micah, Penelope, Francisco IV, and Lucianne; 2 siblings Socorro and Ruben; sister-in-laws Gema and Juana Isabel; numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents Pedro (Agapita) Porras, brothers Antonio, Jesus, and Jose Porras; sister Ramona;

Francisco was born July 7, 1941 in San Francisco del Rincon, Guanajuato, Mexico. Francisco immigrated to the United States in 1955 to Reedley, California and later settled in East Chicago, Indiana in 1959. He started to work at LTV Steel and married Lucina in 1963. They raised 4 children and were life-long members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East Chicago. He attended mass daily at the church and volunteered many hours. He always put God first in his life, and provided an excellent role model to his children. He was an avid watcher of the Mexican Soccer League, especially Club Leon. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, reading, and watching reruns of old movies taped during the day on his dvr. He loved to listen to classical and Spanish trio music. Francisco retired from LTV Steel Company in 2000 after working there for 41 years. After he retired, he went on many trips to Mexico, and other places all over Europe and the Holy Land with his church group. In lieu of flowers, please donate in the name of Francisco C. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Diego Florez officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025 and from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at the Church on Saturday morning.
