Gary Jaden Shanklin

Gary Jaden Shanklin, age 23 of East Chicago, IN passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Tijuana Lankin and father, Gary P. Shanklin; sisters, Brittney Lankin and Natasia Ellis; brothers, Jahhim Easter Jr., Christopher Lankin, and Corey Shanklin; devoted grandmother, Pauline Lankin.  Preceded in death by his grandmother, Mattie Shanklin; grandfather, Alvin Lankin Sr.; aunt, Dominique Shanklin, whom he loved dearly.  Gary also leaves behind his precious daughter, Zahyir Alexander, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, friends, and a special friend, Ericka Hill.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Adriana Guevara Pina officiating.  Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025 and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday morning.

Gary was educated in the East Chicago City School system and later earned his high school diploma from The Crossing School of Business & Entrepreneurship, proudly graduating with the Class of 2020. Gary had a strong work ethic and a passion for providing exceptional customer service.  Whether at work or in daily life, he strived to make others feel valued, seen, and appreciated.  He was a true people person --- joyful, friendly, and always ready with a kind work or helping hand.  Gary had a great love for the outdoors.  Whether it was simply enjoying nature, spending time in the sun, or taking spontaneous adventures, he found peace and happiness in the open air.  He embraced life fully and made every moment count.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
