Gloria was born on December 23, 1955 in Brownsville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfredo Mendoza, her father, Rosendo R. Cuevas, her sister, Yolanda Cuevas, and nephew, Rolando Cuevas III.  She is survived by her mother, Gavina Munoz Cuevas (East Chicago), her children, Daniel (Sonia) Cuevas (Crown Point), Ruben (Sonia) Cuevas (Hammond), Adrian Gonzalez (East Chicago), Jezebel Diaz (East Chicago), Belen Mendez (Hammond),  her sisters, Elizabeth Cuevas (East Chicago), Sandi (James) Arias (Crown Point), Rosa Cuevas (East Chicago), her brothers, Rosendo Cuevas (Texas), Rolando Cuevas (Whiting), and Reynaldo (Maggie) Cuevas (East Chicago). The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Angela Sannasardo and Shelley Miranda who stood by Gloria in her final moments.  Your presence, love, and comfort meant more than words can say.  We are forever thankful for the friendship, compassion, and the peace you helped bring to Gloria throughout the years and in her final hours.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church, 802 144th Street, East Chicago, Indiana with Rev. Julio Bedoya officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetary, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation will be on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Fife Funeral Home, 4201 Indianapolis Boulevard, East Chicago, IN and from 10:00 am to 10:30 am at the Church on Tuesday morning.  Gloria's brother, Reynaldo Cuevas will be leading us in prayer at 7:00pm on Monday.

Gloria had a deep love for the golden days of Hollywood and music.  She could often be found humming along to Elvis Presley tunes or watching classic crime dramas and Westerns.  A devoted fan of Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne, she had a flair for nostalgia and a passion for timeless stories.  Whether she was watching her favorite shows or sharing memories of the past, Gloria's warmth and wit made her a joy to be around.   Her directness and straightforward approach left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She had a way of making her presence known, and her influence on those around her was significant.

In this time of sorrow, let us find comfort in the memories we shared and the lessons we learned from her. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will remain in our hearts.   Let us come together to honor her memory and acknowledge the impact she had on our lives. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
