Jesus Ramirez

Jesus Ramirez passed away peacefully Thursday January 19, 2023 at Community Hospital. He was surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren and close family. He was 67 years old. 

Funeral Services will be held at Fife Funeral Home. Located at 4201 Indianapolis Boulevard East Chicago, IN 46312. 

Visitation will be held at Fife Funeral Home Saturday January 28, 2023 from 2pm-6pm. 

Jesus wished to be cremated so there will be no burial to follow. 

Jesus was born September 30, 1955 in Mccallen, Texas to Roel and Jovita Ramirez. He was the 6th of 9 children. In 1959 Roel moved his family to Gary, IN. When Jesus was 18 years old he got a job at Youngstown Steel. At 24 years old he met his first wife Joann Quiroga and they were married in 1979. He had four daughters Kelly (Jason) Ramirez; Josephine (David) Ramirez; Joann Vera (Oscar) and Irene Vasquez (Eduardo). Jesus loved music and started a band with his brothers Jose and Felipe and good friend Dino Atilano. They loved to get together on the weekends and perform at local places. 

Jesus met his late wife Diane Nunez in the mid nineties and were married July 29, 2002. He continued working at the steel mills until he retired in the late 90s. After retirement Jesus helped out in the church and became involved in the church’s music program. The two lived a beautiful life together involved in the Lighthouse Christian Church until Diane’s passing. 

Jesus had a strong passion for music and was happiest with a guitar in his hand. He loved playing music and never went anywhere without his favorite guitar. He loved raising Piranha and loved having and maintaining a fish tank. Until his untimely death he loved jamming out with his brother Felipe and good friend Dino. He loved going to the casino and being surrounded by family and friends. He loved being involved and raising his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He was a great dad, brother, uncle and friend to many. His infectious laugh and jokes could light up a room. He loved helping others and would often give his last dollar to help a friend in need. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his four daughters; grandchildren Tianna, Ciera, Adam, Jasmine, Mariela, Serena, Soriah, Jason, Christine,Richard, Oscar and Liam. Great grand sons Amir and Jeremy; and a great daughter that he did not get to meet. Brothers Arturo (Maria) Ramirez; Jose (Yolanda) Ramirez; Felipe Ramirez; Leticia Alcocer; Lori (Beto) Gonzalez.

He is preceded in death by his late wife Diane Nunez; parents Roel and Jovita Ramirez; brother Roel Ramirez; sisters Lupe (Israel) Salinas and Aurora (Rogelio) Rodriguez and niece Yolanda Ortega.
