Joel Michael Lugo

Joel Michael Lugo, age 43 of East Chicago, IN passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Joel is survived by his children, Julissa, Joel Jr, and Jilliana; mother Denise and father Jose; Grandmother Theresa; sisters Monica(Juan) Ximenez, Veronica, Dawn, Elizabeth(Joseph) Martinez and Briana; nieces/nephews: Juan Jr and Emma Ximenez, Daniella Duarte, Estevan Cuadra, Julian, Izaiah, Izaac, and Roxana Martinez, and Cataleya Colon; soon to be great nephew Kairo Seymour. Also his aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, goddaughter and godsisters. Preceded in death by grandparents, Albert Galvan, Gustavo Lugo, Bertha Rodriguez; Uncle Frank Gonzalez; and aunt Laura Aldaba. 

Joel is a graduate of East Chicago Central High School. His children, Jujubear, Best friend Pops, and Monkeybear were his world. He loved all his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed going to the gun range, as well as a LA Dodgers fan. He was a hard and dedicated worker who spent many of his years working at McDonald’s, Sherwin Williams, and currently Ford. He will be greatly missed by his little sidekick, Brownie(dog), who loved to cuddle him at any chance she could get.  Although he is no longer here with us, his memories will continue to live on. 

Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026.  Private cremation to follow.
