John A. “Big Jay” Browning, Jr., age 51, of Gary, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024. John is survived by five children: Jordan A. (Rachel) Browning, Christian (Kirstin) Browning, Tyler Browning, Xavier Browning and Nicholas Browning; four grandchildren: Jayden Browning, Isaac Browning, Renezmay Browning, and Zamira Browning; father, John A. Browning, Sr.; partner in life, Donna Swedersky; two brothers: Nicholas (Melissa) Browning and Paul Browning; four sisters: Angela Azcona, Irene Browning, Veronica (Oswaldo) Martinez and Christina Browning; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by son, Isaiah; granddaughter, Madison; and mother, Carmen L. Browning.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana. Please do not feel the need to wear dress attire, the family will remember Big Jay by wearing Cubs red and blue colors!
Big Jay was a huge sports fan; he was an avid supporter of the Cubs and Chicago Bears. He loved baseball, softball, fishing, golf and darts. John was a passionate, great grill-master! He especially loved spending time and enjoying his family. Please omit flowers, memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to the Family.
