Jorge Jesús Pérez Cantú

Jorge Jesús Pérez Cantú, of Monterrey, Nuevo León, died on the 13th of May, 2025. Born on the 14th of February, 1936, Jorge was recieved into God’s loving arms at 89 years old, now watching over his family and cherished loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Virginia Pérez, along with their children; José Juan (Nora) Pérez, Jaime (Diane) Canisalez, Jorge (Stacey) Pérez, Nora (Raul) Agosto, Laurie (Scott) Brandt, and Annabel Pérez. Jorge was a proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren; Gina Pérez, Jorge Pérez, Joseph (Kirsten) Pérez, Chris Pérez, Alexia (Emily) Muñoz, Mackenzie Brandt, Anaís Juliano, Andrew Agosto, Johnathan Brandt, Mathew Agosto, Maddux Brandt, José Juan Pérez, Abbigail Juliano, and Milagros Pérez. He was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Peyton Pérez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesús and Hermelinda Pérez, his brother, Jaime Pérez, and his beautiful daughter, Nora Elia “Chatita” Pérez.

Jorge and Virginia raised their family in East Chicago, Indiana, where Jorge dedicated over 30 years to Inland Steel. He was a man of faith, a loving husband, as well as an exceptional father and grandfather, and his kindness extended beyond his family, becoming a friend to many. 

Though he was a man of few words, his presence was never unnoticed and will be dearly missed. Those who had the privilege of loving him know he was an amazing person, a man who loved dancing, soccer, WWE, but most importantly, he loved watching his family grow. Seeing his home filled with laughter, love, and joy was his greatest achievement. In honor of his legacy, the Pérez family asks to keep some pan dulce, galletitas, and cafecito, just in case Jorge stops by.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, corner of Indianapolis Blvd. and 14th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Julio C. Bedoya officiating.  Burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery, Chersterton, IN.  Visitation at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 19, 2025 and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday morning.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
