Jose Luis “Joe” Gonzalez Perez, age 65 of East Chicago, IN was called home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the Community Hospital, Munster, IN.  Joe is survived by 2 children, Michael Garcia and Melaney Gonzalez; 2 granddaughters, Isabella and Olivia Gonzalez; siblings: Carmelo (Tilda, Margarita, Saturnino (Janine), Ray, Luz (Aladin) Martinez, Angel (Kathy), Rosemary (John) Martinez, Richie (Claudia), Emily (Jose) Marcano, David (Lisette), Ivan and Arturo Gonzalez; nieces, nephews and other family.  Preceded in death by his parents, Saturnino “Nilo” and Martina; sister, Gloria (late Ruperto) Favela; brothers: Carlos, Anival and Alfredo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Ivan Carrillo officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Church on Saturday morning.

Jose worked for the City of East Chicago as a Bus driver then moved to the Sanitary District.  In his early age, Joe enjoyed boxing, weight lifting, building bikes, singing and listening to the oldies music.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
