Luis Hernandez

Luis Hernandez Sanchez, age 59, of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at home.  Luis is survived by four children:  Luis Hernandez, Jr., Maria Refugio Hernandez, Fatima Lucia (Edgar Serna) Hernandez and Maria Jose Hernandez;  six grandchildren: Edgar A. Serna, Emiliano Serna, Emmanuel Serna, Christian Adriel Roman, and Damian Roman and Baby Roman; mother, Maria del Refugio Sanchez; eleven siblings:  Javier, Santiago, Rito, Rafael, Jose, Antonio, Juan, Adan, Rocio, Eva, and Carmela.  Preceded in death by his wife, Luz Maria Gutierrez; and father Daniel Hernandez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, Indianapolis Boulevard at 144th Street, East Chicago, Indiana with Rev. Jan Krutkiewicz officiating. Burial will be at Cementerio de San Nicolás de los Agustinos in San Nicolas de los Agustinos Salvatierra, GTO, Mexico.  Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana.
