Luz Maria (Cisneros) Lopez

Luz Maria Lopez, age 59 of Hammond, IN passed away Monday, August 31, 2020.  She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Justo Lopez; 2 daughters, Claudia (Jesus) Fierros and Mayra (Miguel) Dominguez; 3 grandchildren: Joshua Fierros, Noah Fierros and Marcelo Dominguez; siblings: late Maravilla, Francisco, late Gerardo, Zoila and Joaquin.  Preceded in death by her parents, Venancio Cisneros and Teresa Garvalena.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Church, corner of Indianapolis Blvd. and 144th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev . Nestor Varon officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation will be at St. Mary Church from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday morning.

Luz was a strong and brave woman who fought her illness to the end. She was a wonderful mother, devoted wife and loving grandmother who protected her loved ones unconditionally.  She enjoyed cooking and making people around her laugh.
