Maria (Sanchez) Ramirez

Maria Ramirez (nee Sanchez) age 87 of East Chicago, IN passed away Friday, March 21, 2025. 

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, Maria "Mari" was called home to our Heavenly Father on March 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on October 15, 1937, in Palau, Coahuila, México, Mari's journey on earth was a beautiful testament to her unwavering faith in God and her profound love for others. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, knowing no strangers and always bringing everyone together. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, where she welcomed all with open arms and a generous heart. The moment you walked in, the delightful aroma of her traditional Mexican meals filled the air, a reflection of her love and care for those around her.
Mari was a devoted Catholic who lived her faith through her actions. She cared for others before herself, always putting the needs of her family and friends above her own. As a loyal and devoted servant of God and the Church, she dedicated her spare time to volunteering at her parish, embodying the spirit of service and community. Her kindness, humility, and compassion were evident in everything she did, and she inspired those around her to live with the same grace.

Her legacy will forever remain in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Mari's spirit of love and unity will continue to guide us as we remember the countless ways she enriched our lives.

A Mass of Christian Burial wll be celebrated Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:30 am at St. Mary Church, corner of Indianapolis Blvd. and 144th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Julio C . Bedoya officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday morning. Donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the family.
