Martha M. Rodriguez, age 88 of East Chicago, IN passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Mother of 5 daughters: late Martha (late Milan) Davidovich, Julia Esther Martin, Elizabeth (Emilio) Cantu, Annette Holloway and Juana A. (Benjamin) Cruz; 9 grandchildren: Armando Vera, Arturo Torres, Alyssa (Joseph) Williams and Amber Davidovich, Rudolph Ortega, Jr., Michael (Trinity) Ortega and Elizabeth (Clarence) Justice, Thomas (Elizabeth) Holloway and Tiffany Holloway; Benjamin Cruz III, Noah Cruz, Isabella Cruz and Camila Cruz; 27 great grandchildren: Jose Villarruel, Elijah Torres, Naddia Torres and Martha Torres, Jaylin Williams, Joseph Williams III, Xavier Perez and Harlow Hudson, Jocelyn Ortega, Rudolph Ortega III, and Mia Ortega, Lissette Ortega, Michael Ortega, Jr., Gianna Ortega, Joshua Ortega and Xavier Ortega, Jaylan Justice, Julian Justice, Victoria Justice and Clarence Justice Jr., Thomas Holloway, Jr., William Holloway II, Jayden Gastelu, Olivia Holloway and Alexis Holloway, Leliana Sanchez and Jessie Sanchez, Jr. Preceded in death by her husband, Teodoro M. Rodriguez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. __ officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023.
Martha Rodriguez is THE ORIGIN to a long standing of generations preceding her. She was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1935. She grew up there and went to school to become a teacher. In 1957, her early 20’s she decided to come to the United States of America. She was excited and fearless. A few years later in 1960, she met Teddy Rodriguez, and they married. Together they had 5 beautiful daughters, 13 grandchildren and 27 precious great grandchildren. She was mom and grandma to each and every one of them. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe parish where she sang in the choir along with being a member of the Legion of Mary.
She has brought us so much happiness and laughter over the years because that’s who and what she was. She was the light of our lives and will always be. Though she is gone she will remain in our hearts and our memories for many years to come, she will be with every single one of us.
