Mary Jo “Jo” (Zarnik) Morris, age, 64, of Griffith, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. She is survived by: her cherished and devoted children; daughter, Harmonie (Jeff Kaczmarzewski) and son, Blake Morris; her precious granddaughters and grandson, Tinley and Rhegan Morris and Dawson Kaczmarzewski; her former husband and best friend, Martin “Moe” Morris; siblings, Terry, Diane, Bonnie, Cindy and Dennis; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that she held close to her heart. She was predeceased by: her parents, Anthony and Dolores Zarnik; brother, Robert Zarnik; and her beloved, infant grandson, Cade Kaczmarzewski, whom she is now holding in heaven.
Jo was a lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana and a 1977 graduate of Merrillville High School. As a young mother and wife, she was dedicated always to her children and family. She never missed a practice, game, carpool, or opportunity to support her children’s activities and to celebrate their accomplishments
She had a heart of gold and was a true caretaker of all. She did all she could and more to assure that everyone knew they were welcome and loved in her home. Her selflessness and thoughtfulness were beyond measure and will never be forgotten.
Later, she was grateful for the time spent with her adult children, grandchildren, and Moe, cherishing every moment, visit, conversation, celebration, and holiday together. The Christmas season meant the most to her. She decorated with excitement and joy, and truly loved the lights, warmth, and traditions of family and home. With all of her love spread to others, few knew she was born on Christmas day.
We will be forever inspired by her determination, fight and will to live so she could be with us. Although her time with us was not long enough, we know that her earthly challenges are no more and she is healthy and at peace in the hands of God. She will be forever loved, remembered, and missed.
