Orlando Alvarez

Alvarez, age 64, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 following a courageous four-year battle with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.
He is survived by his loving children, Orlando Kelly Alvarez and Maisey Lee (Gabriel) Alvarez; three brothers Angel Alvarez, Carlos (Barbara) Alvarez, and Joey (Yonne) Alvarez; three sisters Wilma (Kevin) Guadalupe, Yolanda (Flower) Quiles, and Rose Alvarez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Anna Alvarez, and his parents, Luis and Ramona Alvarez.

Orlando was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1979. He went on to work for T&B Tube Company, where he dedicated 24 years of service before retiring. Known to many as DJ Kelly, Orlando had a deep love for music and brought joy to all that knew him. He also enjoyed playing softball throughout his life and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. A true dog lover, Orlando’s warmth and loyalty extended to both people and pets alike.
Above all, Orlando loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose kindness and spirit touched everyone who knew him. Orlando will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev.
