Pablo Covarrubias, age 73, of the East Side of Chicago, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at home. Pablo is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elodia Gutierrez; six children: Marisela (Eliseo) Cortez, J. Guadalupe Covarrubias, J. Encarnacion Covarrubias, Oralia (Flavio) Romero, Humberto (Mariaelena) Covarrubias, and Magdalena (Jose) Castañeda; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; four siblings; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, Indianapolis Blvd. at 144th St., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Sergio Rodriguez officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana; and at Church on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 am. Prayer service will be on Friday at 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
Pablo loved riding horses, dancing, hunting, and partying “he was a good drinker” – he was a happy soul. His face would glow every time he saw his grandkids. Pablo was a fighter, never giving up with his battle with cancer. His family will miss him very much.
