Rebecca Castro Madrigal, age 84, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2026.
Rebecca was born on March 15, 1942, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, to Juan and Juana Castro. She began her studies in nursing in Puerto Rico before relocating to Lorain, Ohio, where God would begin writing an even greater chapter of her life. There, she faithfully answered His calling as a missionary, dedicating herself to sharing the Gospel and teaching the Word of God.
While in Lorain, Rebecca met the love of her life, Jose Luis Madrigal, and they were united in marriage on August 10, 1968. Together they faithfully served the Lord in ministry, pastoring Tesalónica Church in Lorain before later making Hammond, Indiana their home. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, and unwavering commitment to God and one another.
Rebecca was blessed with five children: Noe (Kim), Rebecca (Raymond), Noemi (William), Julia (John), and Maria (Richard. She was blessed to have an extended son-in-law Sergio and her faithful companion who followed her everywhere, her dog Coco. Her greatest joy was her family, which grew to include 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply and prayed for faithfully.
Rebecca embodied the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman. She lived a life marked by humility, compassion, wisdom, strength, and unwavering faith. She faithfully served God until her final breath, always placing His will above her own. To her children and grandchildren, she was a source of wisdom and encouragement, often reminding them to always look to God and never forget to pray
.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Juana Castro; her sisters, Gladys and Felicita; and her brothers, Carlos and Eli.
Although our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in knowing that Rebecca’s faith has become sight. Her life was a beautiful testimony of God’s grace, and the seeds she planted through her love, ministry, and prayers will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
