Rita Gonzalez, age 98, of East Chicago, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Rita was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She was known for her delicious cooking and worked for many years as a cook at Casa Blanca Restaurant in East Chicago, where she shared her love of food and community.

Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, tending to her garden, and sharing stories from her life. Her strength, faith, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved her daughter Maria Estela Rodriguez and Rogelio Rodriguez.

Rita is survived by her six grandchildren (Verónica Rodriguez, Janneth Esquivel, Giovanni Pozo, Rachael Rodriguez and Regina Rodriguez who were the light of her life, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, devoted parents, and cherished siblings.
