Robert "Bob" Eugene Acker Sr., age 81 of Hammond, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Starkey) Acker, son Robert (Lisa) Acker Jr.; daughters, Michelle (Scott) Acker-Van Senus and Karen (Craig) Acker-Frazier, grandchildren: Joshua Boecher, Caitlin Acker, Carley Acker, Jacob Ferris, Blake Ferris, Savannah Frazier, Caleb Acker and Alexander Frazier, brother-in-law George Richard Click; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by parents Zach and Ophelia (Wallace) Acker, sisters, Louise Acker and Bettie (Acker) Click; brothers, Joe (Jean) Acker and Thomas Acker.
Robert was born on August 21, 1940, in Columbus, Mississippi. He moved to northwest Indiana in the fall of 1967. Robert built and raised his family here in northwest Indiana. He worked as an automotive mechanic for over 35 years and worked at Art Hill Ford in Merrillville for 30 of those years. Robert was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing, sports, camping, horse racing and most of all spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. Robert was a quiet reserved man that enjoyed a simple life and led by example instead of words. He left everlasting impressions on the people he knew and loved. Always remembered and never forgotten.
