Robert Gonzalez

Robert Gonzalez, age 65, a lifelong resident of East Chicago, IN passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at St. Catherine Hospital.  Robert was born on April 29, 1954 to the late Ramon and Lilia Gonzalez.  He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Hortencia Gonzalez (nee Munoz); son, Robert J. (Erika) Gonzalez of Munster, IN; 2 grandchildren, Pablo and Aveline; siblings: Jesse (Rachel), Raymond (Carmen), Daniel (Cipactli), Rudy (Elsa) Gonzalez and Rosalinda (Roberto) Martinez; brothers in-law, David (Theresa) Munoz and Carlos Munoz; numerous loving relatives and close friends.

Visitation at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2020.  Cremation to follow.  Msgr. John Siekierski will hold services 6:30 pm on Monday.

Robert retired from Hoosier Railcar in East Chicago and he was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. Robert was a constant jokester and friend to everyone.  He never thought twice about helping those in need because of his caring spirit.  He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.  His greatest joy was spending time with his twin grandchildren who he referred to as his “Kit-Kats”.  Robert will be forever missed by his family and all whose lives he touched with his infectious laughter and constant joking around.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
