Robert E. Johnson

Robert E. “Bob” Johnson, age 82 , of Fairfield Township, Ohio, originally from East Chicago passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025.  Bob is survived by three children:  Robert M. (Natasha) Johnson, Michele (Jason) Baker and Charlene (Chad) Simpson; grandchildren: Kylee and Alyssa Baker, Jordyn Simpson, Skylar Johnson and Alexia, Julian and Alyanna Cuadra; two sisters:  Karen (late Ron) McGregor and Elizabeth “Betty” (Jane) Johnson.  Furry friends, Maya and Lexi.  Preceded in death by parents:  E. Eugene and Kathryn (Huber) Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Stanislaus Church, Magoun Avenue at 150th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Jeffrey Burton officiating.  Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 12  , 2025 at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana; and on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass at 10:00 am at Church. (Please wear your favorite Chicago Cubs or Notre Dame gear to the wake, Thank you). Whiting Elks will conduct services at 6:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Bob retired from the City of East Chicago in 2006.  He was a Life member of Whiting Elks Lodge #1273 and the East Chicago Goodfellows Club; long-time member of St. Stanislaus Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister.  Bob was an avid Cub and Notre Dame fan.
