Rosa Maria Rendon, age 95, of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024.
Known as Tia Rosa by her family and friends, Rosa was born in Mexico, then moved to East Chicago in her late teens. Rosa was a hard worker. She worked in the payroll department at St. Catherine Hospital for many years. She retired and had the opportunity to come back to work at St. Catherine, which she did, and again retired after a few years. Later they asked her to volunteer her time at St. Catherines hospital, which she gladly did because the hospital was like her second home. Rosa was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in East Chicago. She is survived by her one and only brother Hector Marin, his wife Dora Marin, her nephew and nieces, her great nephews and nieces and her great-great nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her mother Maria Teresa Marin and her father Juan Rendon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Terry Steffens officiating.. Interment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends may meet with the family from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at the Church on Friday morning.
