Rosamelia (Cruz) Guadalupe

Rosamelia "Rosita” Guadalupe (Cruz), age 81 of East Chicago, In passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025. She was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico.  She is survived by her husband: Sandy Guadalupe; children:  Kevin (Wilma) Guadalupe and Kiki (Hector) Encarnacion; 6 grandchildren:  Amanda, Kevin (Anatasia), Jazmin, Diamond, Christian and Lucas; 7 great grandchildren:  Jalen, Jade, Josette, Jerimiah, Niamiah, Ezekiel and Issiah; sister: Margie (Luis) Cuevas; brother: Jose Arturo (Marta) De La Cruz; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Proceeded in death by her mother: Maria Cruz; father: Evaristo Cruz and daughter: Glorimar “Lali” Novoa.

Rosita was a long-time resident of East Chicago, a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School and a devoted parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church for over 50 years.  She retired from Inland Steel.

As a devoted wife and mother, Rosita nurtured her husband and children with endless love, wisdom, care and faith.  Her role as grandma brought her much joy and she always had a special way of making each grandchild feel uniquely loved and cherished.  She did so by giving each grandchild their own nickname, being present for all major events in their life or just spending time with them to hear how they were doing whether in person, by phone or even through Snapchat.

Rosita was a pillar of strength and support for her family and friends; always ready with kind words, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on and prayers.  She was a selfless person with a big heart who welcomed all she met and made them feel part of her family.

Mom, you were the heart of our family and the rock of our foundation. We will miss you more than words can say, but your love, faith and spirit will live on in all of us.  We find solace knowing you are at peace in Heaven watching over us with the same loving care and devotion you showed every day of your life.  We love you to the moon and back.  Rest in peace our sweet angel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev.
