She immigrated to the United States at the age of 26. She began working as an Operating Room Technician at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, IN as part of an elite staff in 1978. She worked there for nearly 20 years before transferring to Community Hospital in Munster, IN. In her later years, she served as a live-in caregiver for many, often considered to be family amongst those under her care.
